She learned by copying her brothers and practicing the steps. Rubiks 2x2 solve http://youtu.be/6Hs6800jW_w 11/08 Order of steps in which she learned to solve the Cube: 1) 2 look OLLs, 4 easy ones she knows as "Big Fish", "Little Fish", "Double Fish", and "No Fish". If she got one of the other 3 she didnt know she would just perform the Little Fish algorithm until she got one of the 4 she knew. 2) Yellow Cross on top, perform just one algorithm she knows as the "Line" 1 to 3 times until she got the Cross. 3) White Cross on bottom, beginner method. 4) First Layer insert corners, "slap the white" memory trick. 5) Second Layer, chase the edge, pair up and reinsert, (slap it again). 6) Last Layer - fix the corners, perform one algorithm 1-2 times until corners correct. 7) Last Layer - fix the edges, one algorithm 1-3 times. This is how she learned to solve the Rubiks Cube. This may seem out of order but we had no intention of teaching her to solve it at that age as we didnt think it was possible. She started by watching her brothers practice 2 look OLLs and copying them. It was after seeing how easily she learned the OLLs and her desire to solve it that we realized she would likely be able to solve it. Slapping the Cube was a memory trick, no longer needed but helpful at the time.
